Three Polish teams in Olympics

Polish handball players followed the success of the volleyball team and qualified to the summer Olympic Games in Beijing.

This success comes after the Polish female volleyball team also managed to win the qualifiers.

Poland’s handball national team defeated Argentina 26-28 and won the tournament in the Polish western city of Wroclaw on Sunday. This the first time the Polish handball players have qualified to the Olympics since 1980.

Sunday also saw the male volleyball team of Poland manage to secure themselves participation in the Olympic Games. Polish volleyball players won against Portugal 3-0 triumphed in the whole Olympics qualifying tournament in Espinho, Portugal.

Earlier on, they defeated Indonesia and Puerto Rico without losing a single set.

The third Polish team which will go to Beijing is the female volleyball team, who won the intercontinental tournament in Tokyo, last week. (jm)
